About the Institute

In 1995, six highly specialized paper conservators have joined their talents and founded the institute for paper conservation Schloß Schönbrunn (IPR). They are convinced that working together in a team enables them to accomplish their assignments more efficiently. The institute for paper conservation has been established as civil partnership pursuant to the Austrian Civil Code.

Being a large private conservation workshop, the institute is able to accept assignments from all fields of paper conservation.
Sascha Höchtl, Markus Krön, Doris Müller-Hess and Karin K. Troschke work in the conservation of graphic arts, paintings on paper and cardboard such as aquarelle, gouache, tempera and oil colour, maps, globes, pastels, parchments, wall papers, fans, Asiatic art and contemporary art.
Andreas Gruber is the specialist for the conservation of photographs, Peter Zehetmayer is book conservator and offers programs for the conservation and maintenance of archives. Moreover, the institute for paper conservation offers also the supervision for small and large expositions concerning the aspects of conservation.

Structural Organization of the Institute

The institute for paper conservation is a collective comprising six persons: Andreas Gruber, Sascha Höchtl, Markus Krön, Doris Müller-Hess, Karin K. Troschke and Peter Zehetmayer. In order to let the administration of the workshop run more smoothly, a civil partnership (Ges.b.R) was established, pursuant to the Austrian Civil Code. The individual partners are sole entrepreneurs except for Karin K. Troschke who is acting via a limited partnership. Objective and contents of the civil partnership are a.o. the investments in implements, machines, equipment and workshop materials. The partnership contract determines the distribution of costs, finances, etc. The partnership "Institut für Papierrestaurierung GesBR" acts publicly for the individual partners and handles promotion activities for the Institute. In case of larger assignments the functions as issuer of invoices. Being a collective, the institute commands over large capacities, but nevertheless in special cases, some partners also employ well trained assistants.
